Selena Gomez is growing up. And the same can be said of her onscreen persona on "Wizards of Waverly Place," Alex Russo. Gomez revealed that as the show progresses, it only makes sense to have the tone of the show itself grow up a little bit.
'Wizards of Waverly Place' is getting much more mature in terms of our comedy, [but] we are still keeping the youthfulness of our characters," she told MTV News. "I just feel like we're all kind of growing, so the characters are evolving."
And the more mature comedy on the show isn't the only thing that Gomez is looking forward to. "As far as anything else exciting coming up, we have a couple of episodes ... we have the Shakira episode coming up," she said, adding, "And I think we have another hour-long special as well."
While she didn't reveal much about the plot of the episode starring Shakira, she does say that the two will share a duet. But if you want to know what song they sing together, you'll have to tune in. "The Shakira episode was so much fun. I'm not sure I can reveal too much. I just know that she had a very big part in it and I was just starstruck the entire time," she said. "I also felt like I needed to work out after I was next to her because she's gorgeous. She was really nice and she was really funny. So the role was her playing herself, obviously, and I got to sing a song with her as well."
So did Gomez prove that her hips don't lie by dancing with Shakira? "No! I wasn't even about to attempt her dance moves," she laughed. "There's no way I would be that skilled."
